I grew up in the capital city of Louisiana, Baton Rouge. I’ve lived here all my life. I am very well acquainted with our social structure and mentality distance, if not physical distance, between the races. With all our problems, I am truly a southern girl to my soul. The answer, for me, is not to move to a more black girl friendly environment. The answer is to make my environment more black girl friendly. That is my mission. That is my purpose. I am colored. I am southern. I am unapologetic.
I have a BA in Communication from Southeastern Louisiana University. I am currently working on my JD at Southern University Law Center. I am also a licensed funeral director. Mostly, I’m just a black woman with things to say.
